About FAO in Eswatini

The country office (CO) in Eswatini is one of the smallest FAO offices in the region, with only three fixed-term staff. However, with an increase in project profile, the team has experienced rapid expansion in recent years. FAO recruits staff on fixed-term or temporary contracts. Staff members are categorised into two main streams: Professional (P) and General Service (G). FAO also employs consultants, interns, and volunteers to assist with special projects and short-term recruitment needs.

FAO Representative

Mr Patrice Talla Takoukam is the FAO Representative in Eswatini, effective 18th August 2020.

Mr Talla, a national of Cameroon, holds a Doctor of Philosophy in International Environmental Law and Public Law from the University of Limoges in France, Master’s Degree and Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Public International Law from the University of Reims in France, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Yaounde in Cameroon.

He joined FAO headquarters later in 2001 as Legal Officer (Associate Professional Officer) in the Law and Development Service of the Legal Office. In 2004, he transferred to the World Bank in Washington DC, United States, as Legal Officer/Counsel in the Environment and International Law Unit, Legal Department. He came back to FAO headquarters in 2010, where he served as Legal Officer in the Development Law Service, Legal Office.
